One of the most frequently asked questions of me is "When is the best time to buy a golf cart?". The answer is a little counter-intuitive. The best time inventory-wise is February-April. That is when you will get the best value at Patriot Golf Cars.
Most of the retail inventory that I sell in Maine and New Hampshire is used. Our primary business is supplying new fleets of carts to golf courses. The average golf course will hold onto their carts for 4 or 5 years before purchasing a new fleet. We take in the used carts in trade when the new fleet is purchased. Please keep in mind that most courses have a service contract with us, so we have maintained these carts since they left the factory. Now most of the trade-ins come in over the winter because that is when the carts are not being used at the courses. Our technicians then take these base units and upgrade them for the retail salesman (me) to resell. The most common upgrades are headlights and a rear fold up seat (it can be a rear facing seat or folded out into a utility bed/tray).
During the late winter/early spring is when we have the greatest number of pre-owned golf carts on site. This means that you can (or have me) cherry-pick the cart in the best condition for you and have it customized to your specifications. This also means that this is when we have the greatest color selection as well. If you come onto the lot in the middle of summer you will see a sea of beige golf carts. In the winter and spring you will usually see green, black, white, grey, cayenne, blue, and beige carts.
It is important to realize that just because you choose and purchase your cart in the winter or spring you do not have to take delivery of it right then. We will delay delivery for up to 3 weeks for free, or for a small fee of $75.00 we will store it for you until you want to take possession of it (within a period of 6 months). Also, our 60 day warranty on used carts does not start until you take delivery of it! That means if you buy now, but do not want it to be delivered until June 1st, the warranty is good through July 31!
